This project has been running for more than 10 years and is one of the largest independent archaeological projects in Britain. It has a community focus and has won awards for contribution to education.

The objective of the project is to investigate human settlement and land use in Sedgeford, West Norfolk.

SHARP Archaeological Dig at Sedgeford - General Season

2 July - 11 August 2017 10.00am - 4.00pm (Except Saturdays)

Entrance and parking free

The archaeological dig at Sedgeford has unearthed evidence of the way of life of people in the village from ancient times to the present day, including diet, pots, personal adornment and burials.

Running from 2nd July to 11th August, you are welcome to visit any day, between 10 am and 4 pm except Saturdays.

There is always someone around ready to explain what is going on and to explain what we have found. We also have a small museum displaying our finds from the Stone age to World War 1.

You can even see the skeleton of one of the Anglo-Saxon inhabitants! Souvenirs are available, the purchase of which will help fund us for the future.

Parking and entrance are free for the General Season (except for the Open Day on 23rd July 2017), but donations are always welcome!

SHARP Archaeological Dig Beowulf Extravaganza at Sedgeford

Boneyard Field, Off Snettisham Road, Sedgeford, PE36 5LS - Follow the AA signs from the B1454 in Sedgeford.

A fantastic evening of storytelling and lore by Hugh Lupton, 'who possesses the art of putting you in touch with parts of your inner remembrances which may have been dormant for a very long time'.

Apart from Hugh's amazing rendition of the Beowulf tale, this atmospheric evening will include food and drink from the period.

This is a Sedgeford Historical and Archaeological Research Project fundraising event.

Raffle tickets are also available for a prize draw on the night.
