The Majestic Cinema is one of King's Lynn's most beautiful buildings. This established and independently operated cinema officially opened on 2 May 1928 - this is commemorated in the stained glass windows at the front of the building.
Being an independent, The Majestic is proud to offer a friendly movie theatre for movie- goers. The Majestic is steeped in history and today has three screens to showcase a great range of new cinema releases. Some beautiful features from its past remain -you just need to know where to look.
When you next visit the Majestic look out for some truly remarkable features like the stained glass windows in the main entrance, the circle of zodiac signs in the ceiling of Screen 1, the bouncy spring-layered floor in Screen 3, and the old stage in Screen 2.
The Majestic takes part in the annual King's Lynn Heritage Day. This event offers visitors the opportunity to explore the cinema building in more detail and to learn about its extensive history via organised tours with knowledgeable staff as guides.
Currently, the Majestic has three screens.
- Screen 1, with its ornate dome, seats 313.
- Screen 2, which holds 245 seats, is fully Digital 3D with 5.1 Dolby digital surround sound. This screen has disabled access and also has a superior quality hearing loop system.
- Screen 3 holds 113 seats and was originally the ballroom which closed 1977.
