There are many guided walks available in King's Lynn hosted by the Town Guides who provide their services voluntarily.

The walks of approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours take place from May to October.

You may turn up on the day or buy tickets in advance from the Tourist Information Centre in Custom House on the Purfleet Quay, PE30 1HP, telephone number 01553 763044. For the 2017 season, tickets are ₤5 for adults, ₤4 for concessions and ₤1 for children. The money raised goes directly to conservation projects in King's Lynn.

In the event of a walk being oversubscribed, ticket holders would be given preference.


Historic Lynn Walk - meet outside Stories of Lynn Museum - next to Town Hall - Saturday Market Place, PE30 5DQ.

This walk shows the history, power and wealth of the Town as it developed from 1100 to the present day.


Maritime Trail - meet outside True's Yard Fisherfolk Museum - North St, King's Lynn PE30 1QW.

Histrorically being one of the largest and oldest ports in the Country, King's Lynn has a rich and varied maritime history. This walk explores that heritage.


Custom House to St Nicholas' Chapel - meet at the Custom House, Purfleet Quay, PE30 5DQ.

Discover Bishop Turbus' 'new' town and how the second medieval town developed from 1180. See many buildings relevant to the heritage of the town in King's Street, St George's Guildhall, the Tuesday Market Place, Trues yard Fisherfolk Museum and St Nicholas' Chapel with its magnificent spire.


Hanse Walks - meet at the Custom House, Purfleet Quay, PE30 5DQ.

King's Lynn is part of the new and old Hanseatic Leagues. This walk explores the maritime heritage of the Town and the Hanse sites including a warehouse which still stands today.


The Darker Side of Lynn - meet at St Nicholas' Chapel, St Ann's Street, PE30 1NH.

This walk takes in sites which reveal the darker side of King's Lynn's history. It is not a ghost walk but explores sites of a ducking stool and a pillory including tales of murder, treason, hangings and witchcraft.


South Lynn - 5th June 2017 at 7 p.m.- meet Richard Morley at the Boal Quay, King's Lynn. Nearest postcode is PE30 5AA.

A walk along the banks of the River Nar, pointing out places of boat building and whaling sites and a visit to All Saints Church which nestles hidden away in Hillingdon Square.


The North End - 1100 to the present day - 19th June 2017 at 7 p.m. - meet Pat Fysh outside True's Yard Fisherfolk Museum - North St, King's Lynn PE30 1QW.

A walk reflecting on the lives of people in a poor area of Lynn living next to great wealth. The walk will take in industrial development and the buildings that are left.


Historic Lynn - 26th June 2017 at 7 p.m. - meet Vic Saunders outside Stories of Lynn Museum - next to Town Hall - Saturday Market Place, PE30 5DQ.

A walk taking in a mixture of buildings that show the development of Lynn from 1100 demonstrating the heritage of power and wealth found in the Town.


Maritime Trail - 3rd July 2017 at 7 p.m. - meet Chris Shipp outside True's Yard Fisherfolk Museum - North St, King's Lynn PE30 1QW.

This walk explores the maritime heritage of the Town following a trail of the buildings associated with this rich history through the Town.


Gaywood Walk - 10th July 2017 at 7 p.m. - meet Doreen Leventhall at the old gate to the King Edward VII Academy in Gaywood Road (approximately a mile from King's Lynn centre) PE30 2QB.

Explore this suburb of King's Lynn which is older than Lynn itself, taking in the location of the Bishop's residence and the Bagge family estate.


Betjeman Walk - 17th July 2017 at 7 p.m. - meet Richard Morley at St Nicholas' Chapel, St Ann's Street, PE30 1NH.

Sir John Betjeman's visit to the Town in 1972 took in the Town's festival. This walk recreates a walk he took at that time through the Town.


King's Lynn at War and Peace - 20th July 2017 at 2 p.m. - meet Doreen Leventhall at the entrance to the Public Library in London Road, PE30 5EZ.

This walk centres around the activity in the Town between 1790 and 1820 when there was war with Napoleon which affected many aspects of life in the Town.


Religious Lynn - 26th July 2017 at 2 p.m. - meet Richard Morley outside Stories of Lynn Museum - next to Town Hall - Saturday Market Place, PE30 5DQ.

This walk explores the Minster Church, The Greenland Fishery and All Saints Church.


Discovering Robert Walpole's Lynn 1702-42 - 27th July 2017 at 2 p.m. - meet Paul Richards outside Stories of Lynn Museum - next to Town Hall - Saturday Market Place, PE30 5DQ.

This walk looks at the time when Robert Walpole was MP for the Town and became Prime Minister. It explores the people and places he would have known during this period.
